I enjoy teaching, particularly less experienced students in the use of oils, watercolours or pastels.
I will always give you the very best attention, particularly if we work 1:1, either in my home studio or in yours. I can often provide the materials you need before you commit to purchasing your own and am happy to give guidance and help with best buys. If you prefer, let me offer guidance 1:2 while you learn together with a painting friend and the cost will be slightly less for you both individually, but this is great value as you will have lots of attention from me throughout the session.
Demonstrations to art groups and societies can be arranged at negotiated rates, also day long workshops at your chosen location or here at my home studio. Both kinds of event include live and static demonstrations and examples of my own work for critique and guidance. Often I loan crucial materials, including the 'Roger Jones Brush', a round, extended point Kolinsky sable, which I developed with the help of brushmakers, Rosemary & Co and which can be bought from them (see Friends page). My workshops are also supported with background notes and an invitation to keep in touch for further sessions.
I tutor at the Marlborough College Summer School each July and August. During the rest of the year I sometimes teach residential weekend courses at Farncombe Estate near Broadway, Worcestershire. It's a splendid, scenic country location, overlooking the Malvern Hills, with excellent residential accommodation set in beautiful grounds, always comfortable and warm - and the cuisine is outstanding. It has all the facilities that we need for a successful course.
Usually, if time permits, during the Winter, between late Feb/March and early April, I offer one to one and group tuition workshops (maximum 6) in oils, in watercolour (and pastels) in my conservatory style studio. Click on the Workshops link for more details, phone me or send me an e-mail via the Contact me section. This spring, 2015, I have no plans to hold formal workshops due to exhibition commitments. However, if you would like to arrange a special one off day for your group of up to 5 people I would be happy to be contacted.
